In the journey of faith, there are times when we ask the Lord, “Why is this happening? When will You act? Why are You silent?” Yet often God does not give instant answers. Not because He does not care, but because what we truly need is not explanation, but His presence.
The story of Job illustrates this clearly. After losing everything, Job searched for answers. He wanted God to explain the reason. However, when God finally spoke (Job 38-41), He did not give a detailed explanation. Instead, God revealed His greatness and power over the universe. From that, Job said, “My ears had heard of You, but now my eyes have seen You” (Job 42:5). His encounter with God’s presence changed everything, even before Job’s circumstances were restored.
Answers may ease curiosity, but God’s presence gives peace that surpasses understanding. Psalm 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
When we are in difficult seasons, God’s presence keeps our hearts steadfast even while the situation has not yet changed. Like a child who does not understand why there is a storm outside the house, but feels safe because he is in his father’s arms. His presence becomes an unshakable place of refuge.
If right now you are not receiving the answer you hoped for, do not rush to assume that God is far away. Perhaps He is actually calling you closer, so that you may experience a peace that does not depend on logic.
Lord, teach me to long more for Your presence than for answers to all my questions. Hold me in Your love, until my heart is at peace even though I do not yet understand everything.
