A Song of Ascents.
Remember, O LORD, for David’s sake, all his affliction,

how he swore unto the LORD, and vowed unto the Mighty One of Jacob:
3
“Surely I will not come into the tent of my house, nor go up into the bed of my couch;
4
surely I will not give sleep to mine eyes, nor slumber to mine eyelids,
5
until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

Lo, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.
7
“Let us go into His dwelling place; let us worship at His footstool.”
8
Arise, O LORD, into Thy resting place, Thou, and the ark of Thy strength.
9
Let Thy priests be clothed with righteousness, and let Thy saints shout for joy.
10
For David Thy servant’s sake, turn not away the face of Thine anointed.
11
The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; He will not turn from it: “Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
12
If thy children will keep My covenant and My testimonies that I shall teach them, their children also shall sit upon thy throne for evermore.”
13
For the LORD hath chosen Zion; He hath desired it for His habitation:
14
“This is My resting place for ever; here will I dwell, for I have desired it.
15
I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16
Her priests also will I clothe with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
17
There will I make the horn of David to bud; I have ordained a lamp for Mine anointed.
18
His enemies will I clothe with shame; but upon himself shall his crown flourish.”
🕊️🙏📖 Summary of Psalm 132 – “David’s Covenant and the LORD’s Promise of an Everlasting Throne”
Psalm 132 is the thirteenth Song of Ascents, and one of the longest in this group.
It is a prayer and remembrance of David’s oath to the LORD — to provide a place for the ark of the LORD — and of the LORD’s promise to David that his offspring would sit upon the throne, if they remained faithful.
This psalm has a Messianic tone, pointing to Christ as the fulfillment of David’s promise.
📌 1. David Swears to Provide a Place for the LORD (verses 1–5)
➡️ “Remember, O LORD, David and all his affliction.”
➡️ He swore that he would not enter his tent or sleep until he had provided a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One.
🎯 David’s spirit: to put worship and the presence of God above personal comfort.
📌 2. The Finding of the Ark and Joy in Worship (verses 6–9)
➡️ “We have heard of it in Ephrathah; we have found it in the fields of Jaar.”
➡️ “Let us go to His dwelling place; let us bow down at His footstool!”
🎯 A deep longing for the presence of God becomes the center of true worship.
📌 3. The LORD’s Promise to David (verses 10–12)
➡️ The LORD swore and will not turn back: David’s offspring would sit on his throne, if they remained faithful.
➡️ “For Thy servant David’s sake, turn not away the face of Thine anointed.”
🎯 This points to the Messianic promise fulfilled in Christ.
📌 4. The LORD’s Blessing upon Zion (verses 13–18)
➡️ “The LORD hath chosen Zion; He hath desired it for His dwelling place for ever.”
➡️ The LORD promises:
– Blessing for food,
– Salvation for His people,
– Garments of honor for the priests,
– Joy for the people,
– The branch of David shall grow,
– A lamp for the anointed one,
– The enemy shall be put to shame, but the LORD’s crown shall shine.
🎯 Zion becomes a symbol of God’s presence and the center of lasting blessing.
