LORD, You search me and know me;

You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thoughts from afar.
3
You examine me when I walk and when I lie down; You are acquainted with all my ways.
4
For before a word is on my tongue, behold, You know it altogether, O LORD.
5
You hem me in behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon me.
6
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is too high, I cannot attain it.
7
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8
If I ascend to heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in the realm of the dead, You are there.
9
If I take the wings of the dawn and dwell at the farthest sea,
10
even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will hold me fast.
11
If I say, “Surely the darkness will cover me, and the light around me become night,”
12
even the darkness is not dark to You; the night shines like the day, for darkness is as light to You.
13
For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.
14
I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.
15
My bones were not hidden from You when I was made in secret, and skillfully formed in the depths of the earth;
16
Your eyes saw me while I was yet unformed; and in Your book were written all the days that were ordained, before one of them came to be.
17
How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God! How vast is their sum!
18
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
19
Oh that You would slay the wicked, O God, so that the bloodthirsty would depart from me,
20
who speak of You with deceit, and rise up against You in vain.
21
Should I not hate those who hate You, O LORD, and not loathe those who rise up against You?
22
I utterly hate them; they have become my enemies.
23
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts;
24
see whether there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way!
🕊️🙏📖 Summary of Psalm 139 – “The Lord Knows and Accompanies Fully”
Psalm 139 is a deep confession psalm of David about God’s omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence.
This psalm describes that God knows human beings completely, personally, and without limits of space or time.
It is one of the most intimate, reflective, and spiritually elevating psalms in relation to God.
📌 1. The Lord Knows Everything about Us (verses 1–6)
➡️ “LORD, You search and know me.”
➡️ God knows sitting, standing, thoughts, ways, and words even before they are spoken.
➡️ “Your knowledge is too wonderful for me.”
🎯 No part of our life is hidden from God — He knows us more than we know ourselves.
📌 2. There Is No Place to Hide (verses 7–12)
➡️ “Where can I go away from Your Spirit…?”
➡️ God is in heaven, the realm of the dead (Sheol), the farthest sea, even in darkness.
➡️ “Even darkness is not dark to You.”

➡️ David wanted the evil and those who hate God to be removed.
➡️ He cried out because of love for holiness and faithfulness to God.
🎯 True love for God is sometimes accompanied by rejection of evil.
📌 6. A Prayer of Self-Examination (verses 23–24)

➡️ “See whether my way is crooked, and lead me in the everlasting way!”
