For the choirmaster. Of the servant of the LORD, David, who spoke the words of this song to the LORD when the LORD had delivered him from the grasp of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.
(18-2) He said: “I love You, O LORD, my strength!

(18-3) O LORD, my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold!

(18-4) Blessed be the LORD, I call upon; then I am saved from my enemies.

(18-5) The cords of death encompassed me, and the torrents of the grave came upon me,

(18-6) the cords of the realm of the dead entangled me; the snares of death were set before me.

(18-7) In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry for help came before Him, into His ears.

(18-8) Then the earth shook and trembled, and the foundations of the mountains quaked and shook, because His anger burned.

(18-9) Smoke rose from His nostrils, and fire devoured from His mouth; glowing coals blazed forth from Him.

(18-10) He bowed the heavens and came down; darkness was under His feet.

(18-11) He rode upon a cherub and flew; He soared on the wings of the wind.

(18-12) He made darkness around Him His hiding place, yes, His shelter: dark rain clouds, thick clouds.

(18-13) From the brightness before Him His clouds passed away, with hail and coals of fire.

(18-14) Then the LORD thundered in the heavens, the Most High gave forth His voice.

(18-15) He shot out His arrows and scattered them; lightning flashes in abundance, and He threw them into confusion.

(18-16) Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were laid bare at Your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath from Your nostrils.

(18-17) He reached down from on high and took me; He drew me out of the flood.

(18-18) He delivered me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, for they were too strong for me.

(18-19) They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support;

(18-20) He brought me out into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me.

(18-21) The LORD dealt with me according to my righteousness; He rewarded me according to the cleanness of my hands,

(18-22) for I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not acted wickedly against my God.

(18-23) For all His judgments were before me, and I did not put away His statutes from me;

(18-24) I was blameless before Him, and I kept myself from guilt.

(18-25) Therefore the LORD repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.

(18-26) With the faithful You show Yourself faithful; with the blameless You show Yourself blameless,

(18-27) with the pure You show Yourself pure, but with the crooked You show Yourself shrewd.

(18-28) For You save the afflicted people, but those who look with pride You bring low.

(18-29) For You light my lamp; the LORD my God brightens my darkness.

(18-30) For by You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.

(18-31) As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is pure; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.

(18-32) For who is God except the LORD, and who is a rock except our God?

(18-33) God, He is the one who girds me with strength and makes my way straight;

(18-34) who makes my feet like the feet of a deer and sets me on the heights;

(18-35) who trains my hands for battle, so that my arms can bend a bronze bow.

(18-36) You have given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand upholds me, and Your gentleness makes me great.

(18-37) You have given a broad place for my steps, and my ankles do not slip.

(18-38) I pursued my enemies and overtook them, and I did not turn back until I had brought them to an end;

(18-39) I crushed them, so that they could not rise again; they fell under my feet.

(18-40) You have girded me with strength for battle; You have subdued under me those who rose against me.

(18-41) You made my enemies turn their backs to me, and I destroyed those who hated me.

(18-42) They cried for help, but there was none to save them; they cried to the LORD, but He did not answer them.

(18-43) I beat them fine as dust before the wind; I cast them out like mud in the streets.

(18-44) You delivered me from the strife of the people; You made me the head of nations; a people I had not known became my servants;

(18-45) as soon as they heard, they obeyed me; foreigners came cringing to me.

(18-46) Foreigners faded away and came trembling out of their strongholds.

(18-47) The LORD lives! Blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation,

(18-48) God, who has given me vengeance, who has subdued the nations under my rule,

(18-49) who has delivered me from my enemies. Indeed, You have exalted me above those who rose up against me; You have rescued me from the violent man.

(18-50) Therefore I will give thanks to You among the nations, O LORD, and I will sing praises to Your name.

(18-51) He gives great salvation to His king, and shows steadfast love to His anointed, to David and to his descendants forever.”
