1
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
(19-2) The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims the work of His hands;
2
(19-3) day unto day pours forth speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge.
3
(19-4) There is no speech, and there are no words; their voice is not heard;
4
(19-5) yet their sound goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tent for the sun,
5
(19-6) which comes forth like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, rejoicing like a strong man to run his course.
6
(19-7) Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the other end of them; and nothing is hidden from its heat.
7
(19-8) The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8
(19-9) The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9
(19-10) The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true, altogether righteous,
10
(19-11) more to be desired than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey, and the drippings of the honeycomb.
11
(19-12) Moreover, by them is Your servant warned; and in keeping them there is great reward.
12
(19-13) Who can discern his errors? Cleanse me from hidden faults.
13
(19-14) Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression.
14
(19-15) Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
🕊️🙏📖 Summary of Psalm 19 – “The Glory of God in Creation and His Word”
Psalm 19 is a beautiful psalm that joins together two chief revelations from God: the universe and His word. David begins by praising the glory of God seen in the heavens and in creation, then turns to the majesty of God’s law, which is perfect and restores the soul.
At last, David confesses human weakness and prays that his life may be pleasing before God. This is a poem that joins the beauty of the cosmos, the power of the word, and man’s need for grace.
📌 1. The Heavens Declare the Glory of God (verses 1–6)
➡️ “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims the work of His hands.”
➡️ The sun is pictured like a bridegroom and a hero running his course — full of vigor.
➡️ There is no place on earth that does not hear the “voice” of creation.
🎯 The universe is a silent witness to the power and glory of the Creator.
📌 2. God’s Word: Perfect and Life-Giving (verses 7–11)
➡️ God’s law is perfect, trustworthy, right, pure, and just.
➡️ It gives wisdom, rejoices the heart, enlightens the eyes, and is sweeter than honey.
➡️ The word also warns and gives great reward to those who keep it.
🎯 God’s word is not only command, but a source of joy, life, and protection.
📌 3. A Prayer to Be Cleansed and to Live Acceptably (verses 12–14)
➡️ David acknowledges hidden sin and asks to be kept from great transgression.
➡️ He desires that the words of his mouth and the meditation of his heart be pleasing before God.
➡️ “O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.”
🎯 The more one understands the glory of God, the more one becomes aware of the need for grace and cleansing.
