consider my sighing.

my King and my God,
for to You I pray.

(5-4) O LORD, in the morning You hear my voice;
in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for You,
and I wait expectantly.

(5-5) For You are not a God who delights in wickedness;
no evil person may dwell with You.

(5-6) The boastful will not stand before Your eyes;
You hate all
who do evil.

(5-7) You destroy those who speak lies;
the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful.

(5-8) But as for me, by Your great steadfast love,
I will enter Your house;
I will bow down toward Your holy temple
in reverence for You.

(5-9) O LORD, lead me in Your righteousness
because of my enemies;
make Your way straight before me.

(5-10) For there is no truth in what they say;
their inward part is destruction;
their throat is an open grave;
they flatter with their tongue.

(5-11) Declare them guilty, O God;
let them fall by their own schemes;
cast them out because of the many transgressions they have committed,
for they have rebelled against You.

(5-12) But let all who take refuge in You rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy, because You shelter them;
and let those who love Your name exult in You.

(5-13) For You bless the righteous, O LORD;
You surround him with favor as with a shield.
🕊️🙏📖 Summary of Psalm 5 – “The Morning Prayer of the Righteous and the Rejection of the Wicked”
Psalm 5 is David’s morning prayer asking for God’s guidance and protection amid the presence of the wicked. In this psalm, David shows a clear contrast between the wicked whom God hates, and the righteous who receive God’s love and protection.
David begins the day crying out to God, trusting that God will not allow evil to remain before Him. He asks to be led in righteousness and for God to destroy the deceit of his enemies. The psalm ends with a declaration of joy and protection for those who take refuge in God.
📌 1. Morning Prayer and a Request to Be Heard (verses 1–3)
➡️ David asks God to pay attention to his sighing and his cry.
➡️ He says: “In the morning You hear my voice…”
🎯 Begin the day by crying out to God, entrusting all struggles to Him.
📌 2. God’s Holy and Righteous Character (verses 4–6)
➡️ God does not delight in evil and does not dwell with the wicked.
➡️ The boastful, the hateful, the deceitful, and the bloodthirsty are not accepted by God.
🎯 God is a holy God — He does not tolerate evil.
📌 3. Request to Be Led in Righteousness (verses 7–8)
➡️ David, because of the LORD’s steadfast love, enters His house and bows down in worship.
➡️ He asks the LORD to lead him in righteousness because of his enemies.

📌 4. Rejection of the Wicked and a Cry for Judgment (verses 9–10)
➡️ The mouths of the enemies are full of lies, their hearts are ruined, their throats are like an open grave.
➡️ David asks the LORD to bring judgment upon them.
