Seeing God in Everyday Life

Many people feel that to experience God’s presence, they must be in special places like church, retreats, or during dramatic spiritual moments. However, God is also present in the midst of our daily routines. Unfortunately, routines often make us forget that every second of life is an opportunity to experience His love.

In Colossians 3:23 it is written, โ€œWhatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.โ€ This verse reminds us that even simple things like working, studying, or taking care of family can be forms of worship if done with the right heart.

The problem is not with activities that seem ordinary, but with how we view them. When we do something merely as an obligation, routine feels boring. But when we see it as part of God’s calling, routine becomes an opportunity to serve Him.

Imagine a mother preparing breakfast for her family. It may seem simple, but if done with love, God sees it as service. Or a worker who completes office tasks honestly, without manipulation, that too is a form of worship.

God is present in simplicity, not only in spectacular moments.

Jesus Himself set an example. Before beginning His public ministry, He lived for years as a carpenter in Nazareth (Mark 6:3). His simple handiwork did not diminish the presence of God in His life. This teaches us that every aspect of life can be filled with God’s glory if we do it together with Him.

Perhaps right now your routine feels tiring, monotonous, even boring. But believe that behind that routine there is an opportunity to encounter God. When you work diligently, when you serve your family sincerely, or even when you sit alone reflecting, God is there.

Psalm 16:8 says, “I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Let us learn to see God not only in great miracles but also in the small daily routines.

Lord, teach me to always see You in every aspect of my life, even in things that seem simple. Let my routine not be merely an obligation, but an opportunity to delight Your heart.

Be present in my work, my family, and every step I take. Amen.
