Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to David his father, at the place that David had prepared, namely on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

He began to build the house in the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

Now these are the measurements of the foundation that Solomon used for building the house of God: its length was sixty cubits, according to the old cubit measure, and its width twenty cubits.

The porch in front of the great room of the house was twenty cubits long, according to the width of the house, and its height was one hundred and twenty cubits. He overlaid it inside with pure gold.

He paneled the great room with cypress wood. He covered it with fine gold, and he carved palm trees and chains upon it.

He adorned the room with precious stones for beauty, and the gold was gold from Parvaim.

So he overlaid the room, its beams, its thresholds, its walls, and its doors with gold, and he carved cherubim on the walls.

Then he made the Most Holy Place; its length was twenty cubits, according to the width of the house, and its width twenty cubits also. And he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents;

the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. He also overlaid the upper rooms with gold.

He made two carved cherubim in the Most Holy Place and overlaid them with gold.

The wings of the cherubim were altogether twenty cubits long; the wing of one cherub was five cubits long and touched the wall of the room, while its other wing was also five cubits long and touched the wing of the other cherub.

Likewise the wing of the other cherub was five cubits long and touched the wall of the room, while its other wing was also five cubits long and joined to the wing of the first cherub.

So the wings of these two cherubim stretched out to twenty cubits, and the cherubim stood on their feet, facing the great room.

He made the curtain of blue, purple, crimson, and fine linen, and wove cherubim into it.

In front of the house he made two pillars, thirty-five cubits high, with a capital on top of each one, five cubits high.

He made chains like necklaces and put them on the tops of the pillars, and he made one hundred pomegranates and attached them to the chains.

He set up the pillars in front of the temple, one on the right and the other on the left; he named the pillar on the right Jachin, and the pillar on the left Boaz.
