Often we feel small because what we do is not noticed by others. There are many ministries, acts of kindness, and sacrifices we carry out in silence, without applause, without words of thanks. Sometimes we ask, “Does all of this mean anything?”
God’s Word reminds us that God sees what is hidden. Jesus said, “Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:4). This means heaven keeps a record far more careful than any human recognition. No matter how small our action may be, if it is done for the Lord, it will never be in vain.
Think of a poor widow who gave two small coins at the house of God (Mark 12:41-44). In human eyes, her offering was worth almost nothing. But Jesus saw the sincerity of her heart, and He said that the widow gave more than all the rich people. What matters is not how big what we do is, but the sincerity of the heart behind it.
This truth brings great comfort to those of us who may serve behind the scenes. Whether it is a mother faithfully praying for her family every night, a father working hard to provide honestly, a church member cleaning the church when no one knows, or a young person refusing compromise even if it means standing alone. All of it may never make the news, but in heaven it is clearly recorded.
The Bible says, “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people” (Hebrews 6:10). The Lord never fails to count tears, prayers, or even the small sacrifices that others do not see.
So do not be discouraged when the world gives no recognition. Remember that we serve not for human applause, but for the glory of God. What is hidden on earth may be of great value in heaven.
Let us keep faithfully doing good, even when it is unseen. For one day, the Lord Himself will say, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23). And that is a reward greater than all human praise.
Lord Jesus, teach me to remain faithful, even when no one is watching. Help me believe that every small thing I do for You is precious in Your sight. Thank You because You always count what the world forgets. Amen.
