Woe to those who devise wickedness
and plan evil on their beds;
when morning comes, they carry it out,
because it is in their power to do it;

when they desire fields, they seize them,
and houses, they take them away;
they oppress a man and his house,
a person and his inheritance!

Therefore thus says the LORD:
Behold, I am planning disaster against this people,
and you shall not remove your necks from it;
you shall no longer walk haughtily,
for it will be an evil time.

In that day they will take up a taunt against you
and raise a lament, and say:
“We are utterly ruined!
The portion of my people’s inheritance is measured out with a line,
and there is no one to restore it to us;
our fields are divided among our captors.”

Therefore you will have no one
who will cast the measuring line by lot
in the assembly of the LORD.

“Do not prophesy,” they say;
“do not prophesy about such things!
Disgrace will not overtake us.”

Should this be said, O house of Jacob?
Is the LORD impatient?
Or are these His deeds?
Do not My words do good
to the one whose way is upright?
8
But you rise up as an enemy against My people.
You strip the robe from those who pass by in peace,
from those who are returning from war,
who are not bent on battle.
9
The women of My people you drive out from their pleasant houses;
from their children you take away forever
the splendor that I gave them.
10
Rise up and go,
for this is no place of rest for you!
Because of uncleanness you shall be destroyed
with a destruction that cannot be undone.
11
If a man should come, speaking emptiness and falsehood:
“I will prophesy to you of wine and strong drink,”
he would be just the prophet for this people!
12
I will surely gather you all, O Jacob;
I will surely bring together the remnant of Israel;
I will set them together like sheep in a fold,
like a flock in the midst of its pasture,
so that it will be noisy with people!

The breaker goes up before them;
they break through and pass on,
passing through the gate and going out by it.
Their king passes on before them,
the LORD at their head!

- The rich and powerful plot oppression even before dawn
- They seize land and houses, oppressing helpless families
🎯 Sin is not only an action, but also an intention deliberately planned. The Lord sees even the plans in the heart.
📌 2. The Lord Opposes Them (verses 3–5)
“Indeed, I am planning disaster against this people…”
- The Lord will bring their evil back upon their own heads
- They will lose their inheritance rights and become a byword
- The land they seized will be taken back by the Lord
🎯 Those who devise evil plans will experience God’s plan of justice — the harvest of sin will surely come.

“Do not prophesy! they say…”
- The people reject Micah’s prophecy because it does not suit their taste
- They prefer prophets who speak of pleasant things, peace, and wine
- But the Lord calls them enemies of His own people, because they block the truth
🎯 When the truth feels disturbing, many prefer a pleasing lie.

“I will gather you… like sheep in a pen…”
- The Lord has not forgotten His people completely
- He will gather the remnant like a shepherd gathering a flock of sheep
- A king/leader will go before them — pictured as one who opens the way

→ The promised Leader of Micah is Jesus, the true Shepherd and King.
“Beware of false prophets…”
→ Just as in Micah’s day, false prophets are still present, pleasing the ears but blinding the soul.
“The Lord disciplines the one He loves…”
→ God’s judgment on Israel is a way to cleanse and purify His people.
