It shall come to pass in the latter days:
the mountain of the house of the LORD
shall be established above the mountains,
and lifted high above the hills;
and peoples shall stream to it,

and many nations shall go and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that He may teach us His ways,
and that we may walk in His paths;
for out of Zion shall go forth instruction,
and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”

He shall judge between many peoples,
and decide for strong nations far away;
they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
and they shall learn war no more.

But each shall sit under his vine
and under his fig tree, with none to make them afraid,
for the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken it.

Though all the peoples walk
each in the name of its god,
yet we will walk
in the name of the LORD our God
forever and ever.

In that day, says the LORD,
I will gather the lame,
and I will assemble those who have been scattered
and those whom I have afflicted.
7
And I will make the lame a remnant,
and those driven away a strong nation;
and the LORD will reign over them on Mount Zion
from now on and forever.
8
And you, O tower of the flock,
O hill of the daughter of Zion,
to you shall it come,
and the former dominion shall return,
the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.
9
Now why do you cry aloud?
Is there no king in your midst?
Has your counselor perished,
that pain has seized you like a woman in labor?
10
Writhe and groan, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor!
For now you must go out of the city
and dwell in the field;
you shall go even to Babylon.
There you shall be delivered;
there the LORD will redeem you
from the hand of your enemies.

Now many nations
are gathered against you,
saying, “Let her be defiled,
and let our eyes gloat over Zion!”
12
But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD;
they do not understand His purpose,
that He has gathered them
like sheaves to the threshing floor.
13
Rise and thresh, O daughter of Zion,
for I will make your horn like iron,
and your hooves I will make like bronze;
you shall beat in pieces many peoples;
and you shall devote their gain to the LORD,
and their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.

After the rebuke and judgment in the previous chapter, Micah 4 opens with a vision of future hope: the mountain of the LORD will be exalted, all nations will come to seek His wisdom, and peace will reign. This is a prophecy about the Messianic age, and restoration for the oppressed remnant. From the ruins of Jerusalem, global hope will arise.

- A vision of the future when the Mountain of the LORD (spiritual Jerusalem) becomes the center of worship and law

“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD… that He may teach us His ways.”

“To you, O tower of the flock, the former dominion shall come…”
- Jerusalem (Zion) will be restored as the center of the kingdom again
- But before that, there will be suffering:
Like a woman in labor
Taken to Babylon

“There I will deliver you from the hand of your enemies.”
