So many people feel they must show their struggles to the world. As if, if no one sees them, the effort is wasted. Yet, not every struggle needs to be seen by people, because what matters most is being seen by God.
The Bible says, “Your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you” (Matthew 6:6). This verse reminds us that God notices even the things no one else sees. When we pray in silence, when we sow kindness without announcing it, or when we work hard without human recognition, all of it is still precious in God’s eyes.
Jesus Himself set the example. He often went to lonely places to pray (Mark 1:35). He did not always announce the miracles He performed. In fact, many times He told those He healed not to tell anyone about it. Jesus’ heaviest struggle, in Gethsemane, was also carried out in solitude, witnessed only by the Father.
Often, we feel disappointed if we are not appreciated. We think our labor is wasted if no one acknowledges it. Yet in truth, human recognition can never be compared with God’s recognition. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” (Colossians 3:23).
The struggles no one sees are often the ones that shape us the most. When others do not see our tears, God sees them. When others do not know our hidden prayers, God hears them. When no one knows how heavy our steps feel, God is walking with us.
Therefore, do not be afraid if your struggle is unknown to others. Keep being faithful in the small things. Keep praying in silence. Keep sowing kindness even when there is no applause. Remember, God is the primary witness of our lives, and He will not forget any of our labor.
Lord, teach me not to seek human recognition, but to focus on Your recognition. Let every struggle of mine, seen and hidden, become an offering pleasing before You. Amen.
