In the social media era, we are used to seeing people share every achievement, sorrow, and even their struggles. Often, we feel pushed to do the same, as if our struggle only matters if other people see it. Yet the Bible teaches that many precious things happen in silence, in hidden places, only between us and God.
Jesus Himself taught in Matthew 6:6, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” This verse is not only about prayer, but also describes an important principle: God values hidden things, including struggles that no one sees.
Not every process needs to be announced. Not every tear needs to be explained. There is value in quiet perseverance, in sacrifices that receive no applause. Even Jesus, on His journey to the cross, many times chose not to defend Himself, not to display His power openly, even though He could have. Isaiah 53:7 prophesied about Him, “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth.” That was not weakness, but full submission to the Father’s will.
Sometimes we want others to know how heavy our struggle is. We feel more valued if someone notices what we are going through. But remember, human recognition is temporary, but God’s reward is eternal. In Colossians 3:23-24 it is written, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.”
If today you are struggling in prayer, in faithfulness, in ministry that no one sees, do not be discouraged. God sees. He notices every tear, every choice to remain right, and every step you take faithfully even without the spotlight. Lord, teach me to be faithful even when no one is watching. Let my heart be satisfied with Your gaze, not human recognition. Thank You because You notice every small process in my life. Amen.
