Trusting God Through Every Step, Not Just the Victory

Many people think that the essence of living by faith is achieving victory. We often focus on the end result: problems solved, prayers answered, sickness healed, or needs met. However, God is not only interested in our victories; He cares much more about the process that shapes our hearts along the journey.

Victory is important, but if we only chase after it, we might miss the valuable lessons God provides in the midst of the journey. Romans 5:3-4 says, โ€œNot only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.โ€ This verse shows that the process with God forms a character that cannot be gained through instant victory alone.

Look at the nation of Israel. They were promised the promised land, but the journey there was full of processes: crossing the desert, learning to depend on manna, and learning to obey God’s commands. The desert was not a failure, but a training ground to shape a trusting heart. Without that process, they were not ready to live in the promised land.

Jesus also set an example.

Before the resurrection, there was the way of the cross. Philippians 2:8 writes, “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to deathโ€”even death on a cross.” The path of suffering is not a failure, but part of God’s perfect plan. Without the cross, there is no resurrection. Without the process, there is no glory.

Sometimes we feel tired because prayers have not been answered or victory has not come. But remember, God works silently, processing our hearts, teaching us patience, training our faith, and shaping the character of Christ within us. This process is actually far more valuable than just a quick result.

So, don’t just pray to win quickly. Pray that your heart is shaped during the process. It is better to walk slowly with God through the process than to win quickly but lose His presence. Victory will come in its time, but the process with God is a precious gift that cannot be replaced.

Lord, thank You because You not only guide me toward victory but also accompany me in the process. Teach me to appreciate this journey and to see how You shape my life within it.

Let me not be hasty, but faithfully walk with You. Amen.
