When God Rewrites Your Story

There are times in life when we feel our story is already โ€œfinished.โ€ Past mistakes, shameful failures, or bitter experiences make us think this is the end of everything. Yet, God is the God who is able to rewrite our life story, not based on our weakness, but on His love and perfect plan.

A clear example can be seen in the life of Paul. Before being used by God, he was known as Saul, a persecutor of the church. He thought he was doing the right thing, even though his actions were hurting those who followed Christ. But when he met Jesus on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:3-6), his life changed completely. His dark story was turned into an extraordinary testimony. From a persecutor, Paul became a proclaimer of the gospel.

Josephโ€™s story teaches the same thing. Betrayed by his brothers, sold as a slave, falsely accused, and even imprisoned. All of that looked like a tragic story. But God rewrote his story so that Joseph was used as an instrument of salvation for his people. Joseph could finally say to his brothers, โ€œYou intended to harm me, but God intended it for goodโ€ (Genesis 50:20).

Often we want life to go according to our plans. Yet the Bible says, โ€œFor I know the plans I have for you,โ€ declares the Lord, โ€œplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a futureโ€ (Jeremiah 29:11). God does not stop writing. When we feel that the point of our life has already ended, for God it is only a comma, a transition into a more beautiful new chapter.

What we need to do is believe and place the pen of our life into His hands. Do not be afraid if our past is dirty, because Godโ€™s grace is greater than every failure. Do not doubt if things are still dark right now, because God is preparing a new light.

Today, you may feel that your story is full of wounds and not fit for anyone to read. Remember, God is rewriting your story to become a testimony that blesses many people. He never writes wrongly, and the ending of a story with Him is always full of victory.

Lord Jesus, thank You because You have not given up on my life. I surrender my whole story into Your hands. Rewrite my life with Your love and plan, so that my life may become a testimony that glorifies Your name. Amen.
