If Jesus is the King of all kings, why did He choose to come into the world as a weak and helpless baby? This choice of God is not a coincidence, but a plan full of meaning and love. The birth of Jesus as a baby teaches many things about humility, love, and the way God works, which often differs from human logic.
First, Jesus came as a baby to show the humility of God. In Philippians 2:6-7 it is written, “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” By being born in a simple manger, Jesus affirms that true glory is not measured by power or luxury, but by the willingness to humble oneself for love.
Second, Jesus was born as a baby so that He could truly experience human life from the beginning. He did not come as an adult figure who suddenly appeared, but chose to go through the entire life process: baby, child, teenager, until adulthood. This shows that He truly understands every human struggle, from weakness to pain. Hebrews 4:15 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.”
Third, the birth of Jesus reminds us that God’s plan does not always align with human expectations. The Israelites at that time were expecting a Messiah who would come with military power, but Jesus came in the gentleness of a baby. This teaches us that God works in unexpected ways, yet always full of wisdom.
Why not born in a palace? Because the salvation Jesus brings is not only for the rich or powerful, but for everyone, regardless of status. His birth in a stable illustrates that God’s love is accessible to anyone, even the simplest person.
An important message from the birth of Jesus as a baby is a call to have a humble heart and be ready to be taught. A baby is a symbol of sincerity, purity, and complete dependence. God invites us to live in the same dependence on Him, fully trusting in His love.
Let us reflect: Are we ready to receive Jesus with the humility with which He came to us? His birth as a baby is an invitation to see God’s love that is simple but world-changing.
