In today’s social media era, it seems that the meaning of “impact” can only be achieved if we are known by many people. The number of likes, views, and followers is used as a measure of how valuable someone is. Yet, the Bible actually shows many great figures who made an impactโฆ without going viral.
Take for example the woman who poured fragrant oil on Jesus’ feet (Mark 14:3-9). She had no recorded name, no title, and was not live streaming. But what did Jesus say? “Wherever the gospel is preached throughout the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”
God is not looking for those who are viral, but those who are faithful. The world may not know you, but heaven is watching.
There are many people whose lives are simple but have extraordinary impact: a mother who continually prays for her children, a Sunday school teacher who faithfully comes even if there are only two students, or an honest employee who never gets promoted.
True impact is born from faithfulness in small things. In Luke 16:10 it says, “Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much.” This means it is not a big stage that makes someone impactful, but a big heart in faithfulness.
God calls us not to be famous, but to be a light (Matthew 5:14-16). And that light can shine even in the most hidden places. Even one good deed unseen by people can echo into eternity.
So, do not be discouraged if your life feels “ordinary.” You are making an impact, even if the world does not see it. What matters is that God sees and smiles.
