Have you ever looked at the starry night sky and felt small… yet amazed? Such a sense of wonder does not come out of nowhere. Deep in the heart, humans realize that this universe is not empty and random, but holds traces of something (or Someone) much greater.
The Universe: Decoration or Divine Message?
If God only wanted to show His power, perhaps creating one galaxy would be enough. But what we find is trillions of galaxies with extraordinarily orderly structures, consistent physical laws, and beauty that does not have to exist… yet it does. Psalm 19:2 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
So, the universe is not merely a decoration of outer space, but a message that keeps speaking, showing that God wants us to realize His existence and respond.
God Is Not Silent โ He Designed Everything So That We Would Recognize Him
Romans 1:20 says that “since the creation of the world Godโs invisible qualitiesโhis eternal power and divine natureโhave been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made.” This means the universe was indeed designed so that we can “see” God through His creation.
Even phenomena such as planetary orbits, photosynthesis, and DNA in the human body show signs of intelligence and order, not mere coincidence. Itโs as if this universe wants to say: “Hey, look! The Creator is real!”
Nature Is Not Just Inanimate Matter
Surprisingly, in many parts of the Bible, nature is depicted as if it can respond to God. Trees clap their hands (Isaiah 55:12), the heavens rejoice (Psalm 96:11), even stones can cry out (Luke 19:40). This is not just poetry; it is a clue that nature is not silent, it participates in the story of redemption.
So, perhaps the universe is not only present “for us to enjoy,” but to invite us to know and respond to the Creator.
Conclusion: We Are Not Alone
Humans are not the center of the universe, but we were not created as passive spectators. We are invited to know God through His creation, recognize His wonders, and engage in a relationship with Him. The universe may not speak with words, but its voice is very clear to those who are willing to listen.
