What Are You Keeping in Your Heart?

The heart is like a warehouse. What we choose to store inside it greatly influences how we think, speak, and act. The Bible says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). So, what are you keeping in your heart today?

Some people hold onto old bitterness. Every time they are hurt, the wound is reopened. Others store envy, ambition, or even hidden pride. But there are also those who choose to keep love, God’s Word, and forgiveness.

In Psalm 119:11, David writes, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” This means that storing God’s Word in our hearts is not just about memorization, but about making that Word the foundation of our lives. When we keep divine things in our hearts, our responses to the world become wiser and more Christlike.

A heart full of love will produce uplifting words. But a heart filled with hatred will easily ignite quarrels. That is why Proverbs 4:23 reminds us, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

What you keep in your heart will come out one day. It may be through spontaneous words, reactions in anger, or major decisions in your life. So the question is simple but important: is your heart a dwelling place for truth, or is it a hiding place for wounds and sin?

God desires our hearts to be a place where He dwells, not just a room filled with dark memories. We can choose every day to keep peace, not resentment. To keep faith, not fear. To keep hope, not despair.

Today, let us cleanse the warehouse of our hearts. Remove what destroys, and let the love of Christ dwell and take root there.
