Have you ever felt not worthy enough to do something great for God? Feeling too weak, too much of a failure, or even too ordinary? If so, you are not alone. Throughout the Bible, God often uses people who appear weak by human standards to accomplish great things. Not because they are great, but because God’s power is revealed in weakness.
One of the strongest examples is Gideon. When God called him, Gideon immediately doubted himself, “Ah my Lord, how can I save Israel? Please know that my clan is the weakest in the tribe of Manasseh, and I am the youngest in my family” (Judges 6:15). But that is exactly what God was looking for: a heart that depends on Him, not on one’s own strength.
The Apostle Paul experienced something similar. He once pleaded for his “thorn in the flesh” to be taken away, but God answered, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Paul learned to rejoice in weakness because that is where the power of Christ works most fully.
This shows that God is not looking for the strongest, the smartest, or the most perfect person. He is looking for someone willing to trust and obey, even when feeling incapable. When we feel insufficient, that is the right moment for God to show that He is enough.
Our weakness can become the means of His strength. When we say, “I cannot,” God can say, “I am able.” In Philippians 4:13, Paul says, “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” Not because Paul was strong, but because God empowered him.
So, if you feel small, weak, or unworthy, remember that you are the best candidate to be used by God. Let your weakness be the place where His power shines. Don’t wait to be perfect to obey, because God transforms through our inability.
