“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
(Psalm 34:18)
Many of us are taught to be โstrongโ and not show weakness. We smile on the outside but hide the wounds within. Yet the truth is: God cannot heal wounds we refuse to acknowledge. Healing begins with honesty.
Psalm 34:18 is not just a comforting verse. It is an invitation. An invitation to come to God not with a mask, but with a heart as it is. He does not turn away when we are broken. In fact, when we are weakest, His love is closest.
Jesus Himself wept. He did not hide His emotions. He showed that wounds and tears are not signs of defeat but part of the redemption process. Why do we still try to appear perfect when God works through our openness?
Often we fear opening our wounds because we feel we will be judged, belittled, or unheard. But God is not like humans. He is patient, gentle, and understands more deeply than anyone. He knows your story even before you speak it.
Acknowledging inner wounds does not mean we are defeated. It is actually the first step toward true victory. When we are honest, we make room for God to enter and touch the deepest parts that need restoration.
Do not keep everything to yourself. Come to God as you are. Bring your tears, your disappointments, and your pain before Him. Because that is where His love works. Not behind pretense, but in honesty filled with courage.
