Everyone certainly wants to see the results of what they do. When we work hard, we want to see the results immediately. When we pray, we hope the prayer will be answered soon. However, in the journey of faith, the fruit of obedience does not always appear quickly. God works in His time, not in our time.
Abraham is a clear example. He received the promise that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky (Genesis 15:5). But he had to wait for decades before Isaac was born. Abraham’s obedience was tested by time. Although he wavered at times, in the end, he still trusted God’s promise. Romans 4:20 says, “Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God.”
This is an important lesson: obedience does not always immediately produce visible fruit, but it always grows faith. Every time we choose to obey, we are sowing seeds. Those seeds may not grow today, but in due time, God will cause them to grow according to His will.
Galatians 6:9 reminds us, โLet us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.โ
Unfortunately, many people stop halfway because they feel tired of waiting. In fact, stopping means we never get to see the results of that obedience. Just like a farmer who must wait for the harvest season, we too must be patient. God knows the right time to answer our prayers, when the door will open, and when the fruit will be ripe. Our only task is to remain obedient.
Jesus also teaches this through John 15:5, โI am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.โ True fruit only comes when we abide in Christ. If we try with our own strength, we may only become weary. But when we obey Him, God’s timing will produce sweet fruit.
Today, we may not yet see the results of our prayers and obedience. But do not give up. Remember that God is faithful. What we sow in obedience will be harvested in glory.
Obedience that bears fruit in God’s timing is always more beautiful than the instant results from the world’s shortcuts.
Lord, teach us to remain faithful in obedience even when the results are not yet visible. Give us a patient heart to wait for Your perfect timing. We believe that every act of obedience is never in vain before You. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
