Have you ever read that Jesus often withdrew by Himself? Even amid His ministry full of miracles and crowds, Jesus still sought time alone with His Father.
Mark 1:35 records, โVery early in the morning, while it was still dark, He got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.โ This was no coincidence. It was a habit.
Jesus, the Son of God, felt the need to be alone. What about us?
Nowadays, silence feels unfamiliar. Every free moment is immediately filled with scrolling, notifications, music, or content. We fear stillness. Yet it is precisely in silence that our souls can hear the voice of God.
Jesus withdrew not to escape responsibility, but to recharge His strength. He knew that to give fully, He first had to be connected to His Source.
Quiet time is not a weakness, but a necessity. In silence, we learn to acknowledge our emptiness. We stop being “busy for God” and begin to be present before God.
Psalm 46:11 says, โBe still, and know that I am God.โ Stillness is not passive. It can be the most active moment for our spirit to connect with the Creator.
Perhaps now is the time for us to pause. Take a breath. Turn off notifications. And let our hearts once again hear the most important voice: the voice of God.
