“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
One of the greatest tests of faith in a believer’s life is not found in suffering, but in who we choose to rely on when given a choice. Amid great opportunities, important decisions, or comfortable life paths, do we truly depend on God, or do we instead rely on our own abilities, logic, and personal connections?
Sometimes we may appear “spiritual,” but unknowingly we only make God a backup plan, not our main reliance. We pray, yet still insist on our own way. We ask for guidance, but secretly have already made our own decisions.
Relying on God means being willing to let go of control. We trust that His will is higher than our plans. Relying on God also means we are ready to be led down paths that are not always the most comfortable, but always the most right according to Him.
Look at how David repeatedly asked God before taking action (1 Samuel 23:2, 4). Even as a king, he knew his true strength was not in his army or strategy, but in Godโs presence with him.
The question now is: Do we truly trust God with all our heart, or only in part? Do we lean on our own understanding when facing lifeโs pressures, or do we genuinely wait for His answer?
When life feels heavy or decisions seem complicated, that is the best moment to test where our heartโs reliance lies. Do we cling to God, or to ourselves?
