Representing Christ Through Lifestyle

Unconsciously, we are all preaching every day not from a pulpit, but through our lives. Our attitude at the office, the way we speak to the online motorcycle taxi driver, how we treat our family, even what we post on social media, all become a testimony. The world is watching, and perhaps the only “Gospel” they read is our life.

In 2 Corinthians 5:20, Paul writes, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” The word “ambassadors” here in the original language means a high-ranking envoy. This means, we represent the Kingdom of Heaven in this world. And the task of an ambassador is not to show who he is, but to show who sent him.

The question is, does our lifestyle reflect the character of Christ?

Jesus never asked His disciples to be great speakers, but to be the light and salt of the world (Matthew 5:13-16). Salt does not make noise. Light does not speak. But their presence is immediately felt. So should our lives be.

Our lifestyle reflects who the God we worship is. Are we generous, patient, faithful in promises? Do we continue to love even when we are disliked? Do we uphold integrity, even when no one is watching?

It does not mean we have to pretend to be perfect. Rather, in honesty, confession, and genuine repentance, we show the power of Christ that transforms. As written in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”

Representing Christ means letting Him live through us. In small and big things, every day is an opportunity to show that Jesus is real and alive in us.
